Adrenal Fatigue
When your adrenal glands become depleted, your natural hormones drop significantly. A key hormone involved in adrenal fatigue is cortisol. Cortisol is known as the stress hormone, but it also provides the body with energy; without it, you are so tired, you cannot get out of bed.
If you have adrenal fatigue, you can usually maintain your normal schedule until a stressful event takes place, then you may fall apart, but not during the stressful event, rather after it.
Do you have adrenal fatigue?
Symptoms of adrenal fatigue may include chronic fatigue, low blood pressure, low blood sugar, dizziness, headaches, anxiety or panic attacks, depression, low libido, infertility, and other debilitating reactions.
Serenity Health Care Center prescribes natural treatment protocols that include bio-identical cortisol and dietary supplements. Our approach is to supplement only what is needed to promote healthy living. These hormones decline with age, stress, chronic inflammatory conditions, and allergic disorders.
Cortisol boots your immune system, increasing your resistance to infection and inflammation. Cortisol also promotes the assimilation of thyroid and sex hormones by the cells of your body. It is often thought that high cortisol will cause weight gain, but low levels of cortisol have also been associated with lowered metabolism and a weakened immune system.
Additionally, the adrenal glands also produce dehydroepiandosterone (DHEA) and pregnenolone. DHEA enhances brain function, muscle tone and libido, while pregnenolone is the building block of all the adrenal hormones and exerts a powerful effect on the brain, enhancing memory. Both of these hormones decline as we age. Thus, to obtain optimal health, you may benefit from supplementation.
